Sekou Cooke MArch ’14 has curated and provided exhibition design for the upcoming AIA New York Center for Architecture show “Close to the Edge: The Birth of Hip-Hop Architecture.” Opening on October 1, 2018, the exhibition explores the spaces produced from the expression of hip-hop and the people–students, academics, and practitioners–at the heart of this emerging architectural revolution. An opening reception is scheduled for October 1, 2018 (register).

Cooke is based in Syracuse, New York where he is Assistant Professor at Syracuse University School of Architecture and has a professional practice, sekou cooke STUDIO. His current research centers on the emergent field of Hip-Hop Architecture. He is a member of the GSD Alumni Council.
