Join the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the AECOM Southeast Asia Studio for “Kuala Lumpur: Designing the Public Realm.” Kuala Lumpur is the subject of the second year in a three-year research studio program co-organized by Harvard Graduate School of Design and AECOM. The Forum for the studio “Discovering Traces” is an integral part of the research studio program and, analysis and ideas will be presented and discussed by the faculty and students of Graduate School of Design, as well as some of Kuala Lumpur’s most prominent urban designers and planners.

About the option studio “Discovering Traces”: the studio will consider the city center–the most important public realm that gives citizens a collective identity and connects them efficiently to all other vital resources that enable and enhance living. However, rapid urbanization has led to a city center for Kuala Lumpur where public spaces are segregated from each other by traffic and buildings, diminishing the ease of circulation so necessary to sustain a city’s economy, society and culture, as well as negatively impacting its environment.
