AMB Arlington Hard Hat_v2

Join fellow GSD alumni to see urban redevelopment in action and under construction with a hard hat tour of the Arlington City Center mixed-use redevelopment and lunch afterward.

Paris Rutherford MAUD ’93 will lead a hard hat tour of his new mixed-use development in downtown Arlington. He will describe how he approached the City to form a public/private partnership to create a new city center for Arlington by demolishing the prior central library to pave way for a new 90k sf library, a new City Council chamber and public plaza, new public streets, and his mixed-use urban block that is comprised of 244 residential lofts, 16k sf ground level live/work space, 18k sf retail and restaurants, and a 610 space shared parking garage all on the former library site.

Being under construction with the urban form in place, now is a good time to see how these steel, concrete and wood frame buildings are coming together to form this new city center. Afterward, we’ll walk across the street for lunch and conversation at Twisted Root Burger Company.
