Members of the Josep Lluís Sert Council and local GSD alumni are invited to Friedman Benda for an exhibition tour and reception. Curators, Mark McDonald and Juan Garcia Mosqueda MDes ’19, will share the inspiration behind their exhibitions and provide guided tours. Dan Borelli MDes ’12, director of exhibitions at the GSD, will speak to the important role of exhibitions at Gund Hall. Following the tours, guests are invited to wine and hors d’oeuvres as they explore the gallery space.

Inside the Walls: Architects Design is a survey of seminal architect-designed furniture with representations spanning over a century from a broad range of pivotal architects, including Frank Gehry, Philip Johnson, Charlotte Perriand, Kenzo Tange, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, Rudolph Schindler, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Curator Mark McDonald is a preeminent dealer of 20th Century modernist design.

No-Thing: An exploration into aporetic architectural furniture examines the prevalence of authoritative domestic practices embedded in our collective unconscious that guides behavior towards personal possessions. Curator Juan Garcia Mosqueda MDes ’19 is an independent curator and former founder of Chamber, NYC.

This event is for members of the Josep Lluís Sert Council, guests, and local GSD alumni. If you are interested in attending, please contact Courtney Ward at [email protected].
