Allyson Mendenhall, FASLA, AB ’90, MLA ’99
Allyson is a Principal in the Denver office of Design Workshop, a landscape architecture, planning, and urban design practice with eight studios in the US. As Director of Legacy Design, she leads a firmwide initiative focused on setting comprehensive sustainable agendas for design projects to forecast and assess delivery of measurable environmental, social, and economic benefits. A member of the Executive Leadership Team focused on firmwide strategy and operations, Allyson leads Design Workshop’s quality and project management processes, practice-based research, and DEI initiative.
Allyson is an emeritus board member of the Landscape Architecture Foundation and served on the organization’s Research Committee to refine the Landscape Performance Series which funds evidence-based design partnerships bridging practice and academia. In addition to her role as Immediate Past Chair of the GSD Alumni Council, Allyson serves on the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) Board Executive Committee as First Vice President. She will assume the role of President of the HAA for fiscal year 2022-2023 and is proud to be the first GSD alumnus to lead this 180-year-old organization representing Harvard University’s 400,000 global alumni. In her local community, Allyson sits on the Advisory Board of the University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture and Planning and is a past Mayoral Trustee of the Denver Botanic Gardens. She received her Master of Landscape Architecture degree with distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and an AB in English and American Literature from Harvard College.
