Peter Coombe MArch ’88

Peter Coombe is a founding partner of Sage and Coombe Architects WBE, where for over two decades, he has built a diverse portfolio focused on social infrastructure. Notable work includes the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, a state of the art indoor track and field venue, the three phase renovation and reimagination of the Noguchi Museum, and Mulberry Commons, a transformational urban green space in Newark, NJ. His firm has been selected twice for Design Excellence initiatives at the NYC Department of Design and Construction and three times at the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation and has won numerous awards from the NYC Public Design Commission. Before founding Sage and Coombe, he worked for Richard Meier & Partners in New York and in Europe. He has practiced architecture for more than three decades and is licensed in New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Ohio. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Peter received his BA from Yale University and his Masters in Architecture from the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, where he was the editor of Harvard Architecture Review 8 and received the Alpha Rho Chi Medal. He has served on design juries at Harvard, Columbia University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New York Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, Pratt Institute, University of Southern California, and the University of Texas at Austin. Peter is currently the Chair of the GSD Alumni Council and was a Co-Chair of the Student /Alumni Exchange Committee.
