Rudy Weissenberg MDes ’18
Rudy Weissenberg is a recent graduate of the Master in Design Studies (MDes) Art Design and Public Domain program with a focus on art in public space and art and architectural history. He is part of the team that completed the temporary urban intervention in Allston titled WE ALL, a design competition led by Harvard University and the GSD. WE ALL was situated in the Grove, a site at the intersection of North Harvard Street and Western Avenue that serves as an entry point from Cambridge into Allston. It presented a communal open space framed by a segmented, vibrantly colored wall, comprising hundreds of PVC and plexiglass tubes that illuminate at night to create a lively and dynamic atmosphere. Amarillo-yellow ground paint and a series of benches activated the corner as a gathering space.
He came to the GSD after a successful career in media in the US, Latin America and Europe compounded with a great affinity towards design and art. He is currently launching real estate initiatives in Mexico and his native Guatemala. He is also founding a design driven gallery in Mexico City, continuing to pursue his interest in working with artists and designers. He is the Co-Chair of the Latin American Circle of Friends of the Guggenheim Museum.
