The Dean’s Leadership Council is charged with providing guidance to the Dean and the School on the continued evolution and excellence of the GSD. The Council plays an active role in advancing the visibility and importance of the GSD at the University, among the School’s many design fields, and in the world at large. We focus on racial equity, social justice, and a more inclusive GSD environment. The Council meets periodically with the Dean to discuss the strategic priorities and needs of the School. Individually, Council members serve as ambassadors, stewards, and advocates for the School, helping the GSD broaden and strengthen its external relationships.
Council members are distinguished individuals from a variety of fields who bring diverse perspectives, expertise, and points of departure to the GSD. Appointed by the Dean, Council members have a keen personal interest in design education and in advancing the role of design in the world. Council members are asked to contribute intellectual engagement, professional expertise, and financial support to help advance the School’s educational mission and extend its impact. The Council will convene in-person twice annually to provide the Dean with valued counsel and guidance to ensure the School remains true to its mission to educate designers who will make positive changes in the world.
