The second event of the Art + Design 2016-2017 season will be a private tour of the Stuart Collection at the University of California, San Diego led by founding director Mary L. Beebe. Since the program’s inception in 1981, Mary has transformed the 1200-acre campus into an energetic, yet obscured, Sculpture Garden of specially commissioned, site-specific works. The current collection of 18 pieces range from unobtrusively discreet to dramatically robust. Get a behind-the-scenes look into the world-renowned collection, many of which involved the participation of Harvard alumni including Martin Poirier (Harvard GSD ’86).  This collection enriches the enjoyment of art for the greater San Diego community. Enjoy refreshments and mingling with Harvard and Ivy alumni alike. Questions can be directed to Joanna Hirst.

This event is organized by GSD Alumni Council member Jennifer Luce FAIA, MDesS ’94.
