10162017 tim greer posterJoin us for a GSD Alumni Insights and Real Estate Development Club (RED Club) lecture with Timothy Greer MArch ’82 of T.P. Greer Architects LLC as he discusses his latest project in Manhattan, 815 Fifth Avenue.

The evolution of 815 Fifth Avenue is a case study of the history of this great residential New York avenue on the eastern edge of Central Park. The original structure was an Italianate single-family townhouse built in 1871. However, over the years it was altered beyond recognition, and the 5-story building deteriorated.

The questions to be explored in this lecture: what would be an appropriate replacement, how tall should it be, and what would the new building’s contribution be to the street? Market factors drove most of the decisions, but the NYC Landmark Preservation Commission required design approval. Additional discussion points to include: the factors that shaped the responses to these challenges and our how the project team navigated this process to realize a new structure that would be successful both architecturally and urbanistically.

Following the lecture, the audience is encouraged to participate in a Q&A with Greer. This event is open to the public, and RSVP is not needed.
