David W. Feldman MArch ’84 Appointed by Governor Wolf to Pennsylvania’s State Planning Board
David W. Feldman MArch ’84 has been appointed by Governor Wolf to Pennsylvania’s State Planning Board. An advisory board within the Governor’s Office, the committee’s activities include “studying demographic, economic, and development trends, and preparing strategic plans to promote the welfare of the Commonwealth,” according to its website, and was “instrumental in creating the Pennsylvania Turnpike, planning the State Capitol grounds, establishing planning agencies in Pennsylvania’s counties, and enacting the Municipalities Planning Code in 1968.” Membership includes 15 gubernatorial appointees, which are confirmed by the Senate and serve four-year terms. The Board also includes secretaries from six Commonwealth departments and four representatives from the General Assembly.
Feldman serves as President of Right-Sized-Homes, a real estate development and project management firm in Southeast Pennsylvania concentrating on sustainable development in established urban neighborhoods.

Alumni Honored at 7th Annual BSA Design Awards Gala
The Boston Society of Architects celebrated its 2017 Design Award recipients at a gala on January 18, 2018. A number of Harvard University Graduate School of alumni and their firms were recognized, including Henry Cobb AB ’47, MArch ’49 who received the 2017 BSA Award of Honor.

Scott Levitan MAUD ’84 Named CEO of the Research Triangle Foundation
Scott Levitan MAUD ’84 has been named the new CEO of the Research Triangle Foundation, a private non-profit organization. He comes to the job with more than 30 years of experience in real estate and research park development. Levitan previously served as Vice President of Forest City Realty Trust and Development Director for the Science + Technology Park at Johns Hopkins. Read more.

Firm of Peter Schaudt MLA ’84 Releases First Monograph; Dedicates Publication to Schaudt
Hoerr Schaudt, the landscape architecture firm of Peter Schaudt MLA ’84 (1959-2015), has released its first-ever monograph, Movement and Meaning: The Landscapes of Hoerr Schaudt (Monticelli Press 2017). Dedicated to Schaudt, the monograph looks at forty-five public, private, and cultural projects by Hoerr Schaudt–one of the most prominent landscape architecture firms in the Midwest. It explores the art and science behind innovative landscape design techniques, and includes such works as the Daley Plaza in Chicago, the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, and the McGovern Centennial Gardens in Houston.

Stephen A. Moser MArch ’84 Completes Renovation of the William Landsberg House
Stephen A. Moser MArch ’84 recently completed the renovation and restoration of the William Landsberg House at 5 Tianderah Road in a wooded area of Port Washington in Nassau County, New York. The house has strong GSD roots being designed by and for William Landsberg MArch ’38 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. The House is considered a significant example of Bauhaus style Modern Architecture created in the United States and is part of the Long Island Modernism movement, which lasted from 1930-1980.
